Leaders & Legacies of the Civil War Online
Eisenhower at Gettysburg
Dwight D. Eisenhower was born 130 years ago today on Oct. 14, 1890. World War II’s Supreme Allied Commander (Europe) and the 34th President of the United States spent a great deal of time in the Civil War town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Learn more about Eisenhower’s experiences there as a young army office at the World War I “Camp Colt” and, later, on the farm he used as a retreat during his presidency. That site is now Eisenhower National Historic Site. SPEAKER: Todd Arrington, James A. Garfield NHS.
