Celebrating the Post Impressionists with Henri Matisse
If our Book & Brush Book Club can't meet at the library today, we'll bring the club to you! Our Collections Development Manager Barb Hauer will introduce you to the art of the fauvists and their leader, Henri Matisse. Her talk can be viewed on our Facebook page, YouTube channel, and website.
Fauvism absorbed lessons from both post-impressionist painters like Cézanne and Van Gogh and neo-impressionists like Seurat. The fauvists employed vivid and non-natural uses of color, and their influence can still be seen in artwork today.
