The Hunt for the Last Public Enemy #1 In-Person
Live train heist re-enactment and author visit! Registration begins... January 17.
Discover the life and crimes of Alvin “Creepy” Karpis, the last Public Enemy Number One of the Great Depression era. He plagued Northeast Ohio, reportedly compiling a record of 15 bank robberies, 14 murders, three jailbreaks, two kidnappings, and 54 aliases.
Julie Thompson spent six years researching Karpis’s criminal career for her book, "The Hunt for the Last Public Enemy in Northeastern Ohio." But Thompson won’t just discuss her book when she visits the library. Instead, Thompson and a team of actors will reenact one of Karpis’ infamous train heists when he and the remnants of the infamous Ma Barker gang raided the rails in Garrettsville.
After the program, copies of Thompson’s book will be available for sale and signing.
