The Homeschool Advantage: A Child Focused Approach to Raising Lifelong Learners with Author, Colleen Kessler M.Ed In-Person

Headlands Branch Library is proud to present Colleen Kessler M.Ed. for the launch of her most recent title The Homeschool Advantage: A Child-Focused Approach to Raising Lifelong Learners, which is designed to help homeschool parents follow a more interest-led, strengths-based approach to their kids' learning while having confidence in themselves as the people who know their own children best.

“Colleen Kessler is an explorer, educator, speaker, writer, creator, and passionate advocate for the needs of neurodivergent children and their families. She has a B.S. in elementary education, an M.Ed. in gifted studies, is a sought-after international speaker and educational consultant, and is the founder of the popular blog and podcast Raising Lifelong Learners, as well as The Learner’s Lab, a creative homeschooling community for outside-the-box families.

The author of more than twenty books for parents, kids, and teachers, Colleen left teaching after more than a decade to write and speak about parenting, education, giftedness, anxiety, social-emotional learning, hands-on learning, and play. Homeschooling is an adventure she hadn’t planned on, but she has embraced the opportunity to learn alongside her bright and quirky kids every day and is inspiring other parents to do the same.

Colleen’s membership community The Learner’s Lab offers creative thinking lessons for kids, social and emotional support challenges for families, virtual Zoom-based meet-up opportunities for tweens and teens, and online clubs (like doodling and LEGO building) for kids of all ages, along with resources to help parents raise their unique kids to be the amazing adults they’re meant to be!”
